Wisconsin Officer Lauded for Saving 18-Month-Old Child, Capturing Kidnap Suspect
Officer Cole Kantner of the Appleton (WI) Police Department was in the right place at the right time when a call came over the radio that a kidnapping suspect had taken an 18-month-old child.
Officer Cole Kantner of the Appleton (WI) Police Department was in the right place at the right time when a call came over the radio that a kidnapping suspect had taken an 18-month-old child on Wednesday, December 12.
He looked upon the road ahead of him and saw—just two cars ahead of his unmarked patrol vehicle—the suspect's Dodge Charger.
According to WBAY-TV, Kantner covertly followed the car for another 25 minutes.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office then stopped the car, arresting the suspect and taking the young child to safety.
"You think to yourself, 'No way this could happen to me. I'm at the right spot at the right time,'" said Kantner. "I don't think I did anything that another individual with that same information wouldn't have done."
