Wisconsin Officer Hurt in Vehicle Collision with Suspect Car

An officer with the Brookfield (WI) Police department was briefly hospitalized after his squad car was struck during a traffic pursuit on an interstate freeway on Monday night.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel , the driver—identified only as a 23-year-old man from Madison—was traveling over 90 miles per hour at one point during the pursuit.

An officer attempted to effect a traffic stop at roadside, and during that process the driver accelerated toward the officer's vehicle after initially stopping.

The officer who was struck was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without further incident.

Charges are pending.
