At approximately 7:40 a.m., Sgt. Kenneth Salas was working to clear a large traffic hazard on eastbound I-90 when he was struck.

Sgt. Kenneth Salas of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office was struck by a vehicle and killed Saturday.

Sgt. Salas served 34-years with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office working patrol, SRO, traffic, and tactical operation, the sheriff's office said.
He is survived by his wife.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating this incident.
