Virginia Officer Wounded in Gunfight Following Pursuit, Suspect in Custody

An officer with the Martinsville (VA) Police Department was wounded after a vehicle pursuit ended with gunfire at an apartment complex late Wednesday night.

According to NBC News , the officer—whose name has not been released—was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The suspect was reportedly taken into custody. That individual's name has not yet been released.

The Virginia State Police is investigating the incident.
