Virginia Officer Proposes to Girlfriend at His Academy Graduation

An officer with the Richmond (VA) Police Department surprised his now-fiancé with a wedding proposal during his police academy graduation ceremony.  

According to CBS News , during the ceremony marking Kyle Leahy's entry into the ranks, the newly minted officer was called to the front, as was his girlfriend, Nikki Mercier.

Mercier and Leahy were then instructed to face each other, at which point Leahy dropped to one knee and proposed.

Mercier said yes.
