An off-duty New York Police Department officer was shot after he confronted armed robbers while off duty. NYPD officer Ivan Marcano was driving with his girlfriend Wednesday evening in the Bronx when he spotted two armed suspects robbing another man.

NYPD officer Ivan Marcano was driving with his girlfriend Wednesday evening in the Bronx when he spotted two armed suspects robbing another man. Officer Marcano got out of his car, identified himself as an officer and showed his gun and badge.
The suspects fired at Officer Marcano, striking him in the chest. Despite his wound, the officer returned fire, fatally striking one of suspects in the head.
