Police are searching for two burglary suspects after Sgt. Craig “Hutch” Hutchinson of the Travis County (TX) Sheriff’s Office was killed in a shooting at his Round Rock house early Monday morning.
Hutchinson, 54, was shot at his home on Oak Meadow Drive in the Cimmaron neighborhood, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton said Hutchinson had just finished his shift and was at home when he radioed the department around 1:22 a.m. stating he saw suspects running around his backyard. By 1:32 a.m. when officers arrived at Hutchinson’s house, they found his body near a creek behind his backyard with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a Round Rock Hospital where he was pronounced dead, KXAN TV reports.
