Early last Friday morning a Colony, Texas, police officer rescued a man from a burning Tesla.

Arriving on scene, officers found the burning battery electric vehicle pinned between two barriers on the overpass.

Officers first tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but when it became clear the fire was not going to go out, the officers decided to bust out the driver's side window.

"Stand back, I'm breaking the window," Officer Edwardo Hernandez can be heard saying on the video.

The officer then used a metal breaching tool to smash the car window and pulled the injured driver out, Fox4 reports.

“I noticed it was a Tesla, but I did not take into account right then and there that this was a battery, an electric vehicle,” Hernandez told WFAA . “It was just rekindling, starting to flare back up.”

“Eventually from my understanding the car burned all the way down to its frame,” he said.
