Video of a confrontation between a Clarksdale, MS, police officer and a 16-year-old is going viral online.
Clarksdale Police Chief Robbie Linley told FOX13 the incident happened Thursday around 2:40 p.m. outside a retail store.
Officers were at the store to conduct a walkthrough when the encounter between the policeman and suspect began to unfold. Chief
Chief Linley said the juvenile attempted to put the officer in a chokehold while he was being subdued. At that point, the officer lifted up the teen and took him to the ground.
The suspect was then cuffed and there was no further altercation. An ambulance was called for the suspect, but he was not admitted to the hospital, Linley said.
The suspect, who has not been identified, is charged with the following misdemeanors:
Disorderly conduct
Resisting arrest
Assault on an officer
