Video: South Carolina K-9 Attacked During Arrest Attempt
Anderson County Sheriff's Office K-9, Hyco, was kicked and choked while aiding in the arrest of a wanted man hiding under a house.

WCSC-TV 5 is reporting that an Anderson County Sheriff's Office K-9 was punched, kicked and choked by a wanted suspect during an arrest in Centerville, South Carolina.
A man with outstanding warrants for running a chop shop in Anderson County is facing new charges on Friday, including attempting to kill a police dog during a bust, according to the sheriff's office.
Lt. Sheila Cole said deputies were called to a home in Centerville where the suspect, 34-year-old Russell Grant, had been spotted. Cole said Grant had outstanding warrants with the sheriff's office.
Deputies and K9 Hyco, searching a crawlspace under the home, found Russell Grant in the air conditioning ductwork, where he began to punch and kick the dog.
He then managed to get his legs around Hyco's lower body and his arms around the dogs neck and attempted to choke out the dog.
Hyco and his handler fought back until the suspect released the dog. He was then arrested by deputies.
Hyco was seen by his veterinarian and he will be OK.
