When El Monte, CA, Officers responded to a call of a child not breathing, they found he was choking and used a LifeVac to dislodge an obstruction and save his life. Body-worn camera video released by police showed their life-saving efforts.

June 3, just after 8 p.m., officers responded and found 8-year-old Ethan Becerra not breathing.

Bodycam video showed Officer Rauel Vega pick up the little boy and run with him to his patrol car, where he knew there was a LifeVac. The specialized device is used to clear obstructed airways when someone is choking.

The rubber mouthpiece creates a seal over the mouth and lets a rescuer thrust the handle of the LifeVac up and down to clear an obstruction.

Together with another officer, Vega worked with the LifeVac until paramedics arrived, reports FOX11 .

The boy started breathing just before being placed in an ambulance.

"When he woke up and he started crying," Vega said. "You know, that was the best. My partner and I just, we teared up."
