Video: Politician Lied About N.J. Trooper's Mistreatment
Dash-cam video has vindicated a New Jersey State Police trooper accused of mistreating a state assemblyman during a traffic stop.

Dash-cam video has vindicated a New Jersey State Police trooper accused of mistreating a state assemblyman during a traffic stop.
Trooper Randy Pangborn said he faced an internal investigation and pressure from the state's largest police union to drop his complaint against Assemblyman Nelson Albano. The trooper ticketed Albano for driving 71 mph in a 55 mph zone on Feb. 21.
Following the citation, Albano wrote a scathing letter to the state police claiming the trooper refused to accept his temporary vehicle registration, requested backup, and had other troopers box in his car. He said he was "humiliated, embarrassed and disrespected as a legislator," reports the Star-Ledger.
Video obtained from Trooper Pangborn's cruiser tells a different story. The footage shows the trooper remaining calm and respectful. The assemblyman, who acknowledged later he asked the trooper to "cut me a break," was on his way in about eight minutes.
The trooper told the assemblyman he would need to contact the court.
