Officers responded to reports of a man pointing a gun at another person inside of a home around 9 a.m.
Attempts to get the man to come out and speak with officers failed and the man opened fire, hitting Sgt. Josh Scott.
Sgt. Scott was transported to the hospital in a patrol vehicle, OKCFox reports.
A standoff ensued. Police say suspect Kavon Ragan shot dozens of rounds through the windows of the home towards officers, other houses, and surrounding cars.
A negotiator spoke to Ragan for several hours to try to get him to surrender peacefully, but he refused, according to police.
Ragan was killed by law enforcement. Occupants of the home were rescued.
Sgt. Scott underwent surgery and was later released.
