Newly released police dash camera video from an Avon, Ohio, police cruiser shows a chase that started near Avon Lake and ended when the suspect crashed into a Westlake tavern.
The chase started around 8:45 Thursday night. The video shows Avon police officers pursuing the suspect in the stolen truck as he refuses to stop and at times leads cops on a high-speed chase.
Avon police started to chase Brandon Pawlak, 26, moments after they believe he stole a pick-up from a golf course in Avon Lake.
The pursuit ended when police in the nearby town of Westlake put down spike strips. The driver of the stolen pick-up drove over them and lost control. The truck then crashed into Dover Gardens Tavern.
The crash injured more than a dozen people including the driver; eleven were transported to area hospitals and two drove themselves. Many others were treated at the scene.
