Video: Michigan Officer Cleared In Shooting of Armed Parolee
Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth, who released the video, ruled Officer Donald Lake acted appropriately in self-defense when he shot 33-year-old Gabriel Hood.
A Grand Rapids (Mich.) Police officer has been cleared in the shooting of an armed parolee during a traffic stop in part because his cruiser's dash-cam footage showed the subject reaching for a stolen handgun in his waistband, reports WoodTV.com.
Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth, who released the video, ruled Officer Donald Lake acted appropriately in self-defense when he shot 33-year-old Gabriel Hood.
Lake had pulled over Wood for riding tandem with his girlfriend on a moped (a vehicle code violation). During the stop, Lake provided false information and even corrected the officer on the pronunciation of his alias.
