Video: Mich. Deputies Stop Courtroom Brawl
Oakland County (Mich.) Sheriff's deputies quickly restored order in a courtroom after a murder victim's family members lashed out as their son's killer during a sentencing hearing.
Oakland County (Mich.) Sheriff's deputies quickly restored order in a courtroom after a murder victim's family members lashed out as their son's killer during a sentencing hearing.
The brawl erupted following the statements of the mother and father of Sean Taylor, 21. A jury had convicted Melvin Dalton, 34, of second-degree murder for fatally shooting Taylor in 2008.
"He has shattered many people's lives, our family's and his," said Sheila Taylor, Sean's mother. Dalton then said, "Sean's family, they're looking for some justice. I understand this. But what about my justice?"
After members of Taylor's family stood up and began cursing at Dalton, deputies quickly took control of the situation, leading family members out of the courtroom.
