The officers, who have not been identified, produced a nine-minute video about "driving while black" in which they are shown in uniform pulling over a black motorist two times. An agency cruiser was used in the video.
The officers' conversation with the driver was littered with "demeaning language, racial slurs, and crude stereotypes," Chief Mark Magaw told the Washington Examiner.
The officers apparently produced the video and posted it to YouTube. The chief became aware of it after a citizen complained to the Internal Affairs unit.
The president of the county's NAACP chapter told the Washington Times the video showed insensitivity to racial profiling fears, but added that the officers shouldn't be terminated.
The officers have served with the agency for 10 and three years respectively.
