A video released by the Charles County (MD) Sheriff’s Office Friday shows deputies running toward a burning car to rescue a woman and two toddlers earlier this month.
On Sept. 2, a vehicle with five occupants struck a tree along St. Charles Parkway and burst into flames. In the crash, a woman was ejected from the car, the driver suffered fractures to his legs and was dragged to safety, and two toddlers and another woman were trapped in the burning car.
The video shows deputies’ rapid response and efforts to move the victims, including the two toddlers. Also, it shows a citizen running to give a fire extinguisher to the deputies before fire crews could arrive.
All of the occupants of the burning car were seriously injured in the accident, WTOP TV reports.
