Blue lines are showing up on curbs across the country as a symbol of support for police, and the campaign started in San Antonio by Anthony Welichko.
Welichko calls it the "Safe Harbor Initiative." He posted a picture of a blue line spray painted on his curb on Facebook, and it's been shared more than 66 thousand times. Welichko said he came up with the idea after multiple recent controversial police-involved shootings in Texas and across the country. He said he wants officers to see the blue line and know the community stands behind them.
"The war against police, if you will, gets a lot of attention. I get the sense that the officers themselves aren't seeing that support," Welichko told KENS TV.
He said the blue line is also a reminder for citizens to remember the risks law enforcement face on the job for us.
