VIDEO: Louisiana Deputy Shot During DEA Raid, Suspect in Custody
A Jefferson Parish, LA, deputy was in critical condition after being shot five times in the Holy Cross neighborhood of New Orleans Tuesday morning.

A Jefferson Parish, LA, deputy was in critical condition after being shot five times in the Holy Cross neighborhood of New Orleans Tuesday morning, reports WWL-TV.
The deputy, identified as 35-year-old Stephen Arnold, a 12-year veteran of the JPSO, was shot as officers were executing a search warrant at the home. Arnold was shot five times and hit in the neck, torso, and arm during the incident. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
"He is in real serious condition -- critical condition," said Sheriff Newell Normand. "There appeared a time where he stopped breathing. He is stable at the present time. They operated on him for better than two hours. At this point in time, we're just praying, praying, praying that neurologically that there's not any impairment."
Authorities confirm that the suspect in the shooting of Deputy Arnold is Jarvis Hardy, who was booked with attempted first-degree murder and narcotics violations.
Around 6:10 a.m. the New Orleans Police Department confirmed that "an agent was shot." Later police said the officer injured was a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy. Arnold was part of a DEA task force that included NOPD, JPSO, and other federal law enforcement officers.
