Newly released dash-cam video shows a Seattle Police officer shooting and wounding a mentally ill man who charged him with a knife in June.
The shooting itself occurs off camera in the video, which was obtained by KOMO through a court order. However, the patrol car video system shows a man wearing a white shirt charging the patrol car with one arm raised. Shots ring out and the officer emerges into the frame from the passenger side of the patrol car.
The man, who is schizophrenic, survived the shooting and later pleaded guilty to assault.
