The Topeka (KS) Police Department is investigating an officer involved-shooting that happened on Thursday afternoon in Topeka.
Police say officers conducted a traffic stop at 1:14 p.m. in the 700 block of SW Taylor St. The driver battered the officer during the traffic stop, which caused injuries to the officer’s hand and arm. The suspect then attempted to flee the scene.
The driver made it to the 100 block of NW Quinton Ave. when the officer shot the suspect and took them into custody.
Both the suspect and the officer were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries,
