Officer Brianna Tedesco had come upon a wanted subject in an SUV on a narrow gravel road. When she asked the man for ID, he produced a piece of paper, and quickly thereafter, a handgun, police report.
A struggle for control of the gun ensued. During the fight for life, Officer Tedesco was backed up by another officer, who shot and killed the assailant with a single round to the head.

, the gunman had been wanted for murder. The Pennsylvania man—identified as 36-year-old Kenneth Martell— was wanted for murder after he tied, robbed, beat and stabbed to death 88-year-old Theodore Garver in his home three days prior.
