A DeKalb County (Ga.) police officer is dead and two other people are in critical condition after a weekend crash involving a wrong-way driver in South Fulton County.
The officer, Kevin Toatley, was a seven-year veteran of the department.
Toatley was driving home 12:30 a.m. Saturday when police say he was hit head-on by a SUV going the wrong way on the freeway.
Toatley's patrol car burst into flames, WSB TV reports.
The SUV driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition and one of the passengers was critically injured.
Investigators say the woman driving the SUV was from out of town. She was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol, but she could still face charges.
