Investigators released video of a woman stabbing an off-duty deputy who tried to break up a fight between the woman and her ex-boyfriend in Edgewater, FL, Saturday, reports WPEC.
The Volusia County (FL) Sheriff's Office said it all began when 26-year-old Brittany Bonin and her ex-boyfriend had a fight in a home along Pine Tree Drive. According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Bonin wanted her ex-boyfriend return gifts she had bought his daughter.
The ex ran to the off-duty deputy's home across the street. Investigators said Bonin then started a fire in the house before walking across the street to confront the ex.
Video shows the off-duty deputy stepping in to intervene.
Authorities said the woman tried to stab her ex. Instead she stabbed Capt. Cliff Williams in the lower back.
Williams is home from the hospital and back at work.
Bonin is in jail facing charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
