Video: Driver Tried to Run Over Las Vegas Officer While Fleeing Traffic Stop

Las Vegas Metro Police released footage Thursday of an officer-involved shooting that occurred after a teen reportedly tried to run down an officer as the officer approached his vehicle, reports KSNV.
Police say Daniel Prichard, 18, was driving an unregistered vehicle and when they tried to pull him over, he refused to stop. Officers say they pulled back and let the car go, but a short time later, officers found Prichard in his car at a different location.
Officer Scott Hinckley, 33, was exiting the squad car to approach the driver when video shows Prichard’s vehicle racing toward him. Hinckley fired off 10 rounds toward Prichard but he was not hit.
While Prichard managed to avoid the officer’s bullets, police finally caught up and arrested the teen.
Metro Undersheriff Kevin McMahill said Prichard had recently bought the car off Craigslist but it’s still unclear why he fled the traffic stop in the first place.
