Video: D.C. Officer Shoots Knife-Wielding Woman
Saturday night in Washington, D.C., a woman was shot by a Metro D.C. officer after she approached within about eight feet of the officer while wielding a knife. The woman was shot once in the chest and was in stable condition at an area hospital.
Saturday night in Washington, D.C., a woman was shot by a Metro D.C. officer after she approached within about eight feet of the officer while wielding a knife. The woman was shot once in the chest and was in stable condition at an area hospital.
The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. near the location of a fire that was reported earlier that afternoon, officials told WUSA TV.
D.C. Police Chief Kathy Lanier said the woman was armed with knives and when police told her to drop them, she refused. The woman continued walking towards the officer. Lanier said the officer fired one shot and then the woman was handcuffed.
