After discovering the deplorable conditions the girls were living in, Artz launched an effort to raise money and supplies for the kids and the grandmother who agreed to take care of them.
The grandmother said she would be homeless and the girls would be living in foster care if it wasn't for the generosity of Artz and other 7th district Chicago police officers. With approval from his superiors, Artz spearheaded an effort to raise money through a GoFundMe page.
Now, Artz is under investigation for violating police department policy, WLS TV reports.
Even if Artz is exonerated, he will always have a complaint logged on his record.
