Video: California Officer Startled by Lizard Leaping from Suspect's Coat
An officer with the Chico (CA) Police Department was searching a man being detained when she suffered a surprise: a lizard leaped from one of the man's pockets.
An officer with the Chico (CA) Police Department was searching a man being detained when she suffered a surprise: a lizard leaped from one of the man's pockets.
The female officer conducting the search jumped back at the sudden appearance of the little creature and burst out in a fit of nervous laughter. As she recovered from the shock of the reptile's appearance at the scene she admonished the man.
"Jerry! You gave me a heart attack!" she said as she continued to laugh.
Then she added, "Do you have any other creepy critters in your pocket?"
The incident was captured on video, which the department was compelled to post on Facebook.
"Just another day on patrol," the agency said.
