A Birmingham, Ala., attorney presented a clip of surveillance video showing local officers using physical force on a man who is seen holding up his hands as the officers take him down and deliver blows.
Attorney Charles Salvagio presented the video to internal affairs detectives with the Birmingham Police Department. The incident occurred March 20.
The incident began when undercover officers working the burglary unit saw Travarious Daniel, 29, take keys from a vehicle they describe in the report as an "unmark car." Officers also wrote that they used "minimum force" to take Daniel into custody within sight of police headquarters, reports the Birmingham News.
In the video footage, officers can be seen taking Daniel to the ground, and delivering punches to him.
