The Scottsdale Police Department has released new graphic photos and video of a deadly Nov. 13 shooting involving a kidnapping suspect outside a restaurant in Mesa last month.
Special Assignment detectives located the suspects’ vehicle, confirmed that the victim was inside, and used their SUV to box it in.
One suspect, Wyatt Edge, was arrested inside the restaurant. The second suspect Rene Calderon engaged the detectives in a firefight and was killed in the back of his vehicle, AZFamily reports.
The video captures images and sounds of the suspect bullets striking the detectives’ vehicles and the detectives maneuvering and shooting back.
The victim was rescued.
The FBI Laboratory Latent Prints Unit positively identified a man, who died in December, as the suspect wanted in the theft of $1.3 million in cash from an armored car service in 1988. He had previously been featured on Unsolved Mysteries and America’s Most Wanted.
