Video: Albuquerque Officer Recovering from Saturday Traffic Stop Shooting
APD says Officer Lou Golson pulled a SUV over during a routine traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. As he approached the vehicle the suspect started shooting, striking the officer twice. Officer Golson was able to return fire, but the suspect fled the scene and has yet to be apprehended.

Albuquerque police have identified the officer who was shot by a suspect during a traffic stop Saturday near San Mateo and Montgomery.
APD says Officer Lou Golson pulled a SUV over during a routine traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. As he approached the vehicle the suspect started shooting, striking the officer twice. Officer Golson was able to return fire, but the suspect fled the scene and has yet to be apprehended.
Through the course of the investigation it was found that the SUV was stolen from a local car lot in Albuquerque.
Police told KOB TV Officer Golson is currently in stable condition, but that his road to recovery will be a long one.
Officer Golson has worked for the Albuquerque Police Department for 31 years. He served in the armed forces in many different capacities. He's worked many different beats at APD, but recently volunteered to return to DWI Patrol. He was also recently honored by MADD as a hero awardee at a brunch on Nov. 8.
Police have not been able to identify the suspect who shot Officer Golson, but police were able to retrieve video from his lapel cam showing the suspect. Three still photos were captured from the lapel cam and police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.
