Union Sues Minnesota POST for Revealing IDs of Undercover Officers

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA), the state's largest union for police officers, is suing the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) alleging the POST board disclosed the private information of hundreds of undercover cops in the state.

According to the lawsuit, the POST board was complying with a Minnesota Government Data Practices Act request when it released the names of officers to Illinois-based nonprofit, the Invisible Institute.

The database, which allows anyone to look up the employment history of Minnesotan police officers, was published online, which the MPPOA argues put their officers at risk, KARE reports.
