The sheriff's office says it all began after Ruiz rear-ended an officer's patrol unit at a stop sign. The officer followed Ruiz who allegedly then rammed the patrol car again this time head-on. Ruiz was caught by two other officers and placed in the back seat of a patrol unit. He then allegedly slipped out of his handcuffs, jumped into the front seat, and took off.
The sheriff's office says Ruiz led them on a chase from Poteet to Pleasanton where he tried to run over a Pleasanton police officer. He was taken into custody after driving into a Poteet police patrol car,
