A 20-year-old man is now on trial for the shooting death of a Lakewood Police Department officer last January, according to the Associated Press .
Patrolman Christopher Matlosz of the Lakewood (N.J.) Police Department was shot three times at close range while seated in his cruiser Jan. 14, 2011. The 27-year-old officer, engaged to be married, was approaching someone for a field interview when he was killed. He never drew his weapon. Less than two days later 19-year-old Jahmell Crockam was arrested for the murder.
