A Metro Nashville (TN) police officer was shot in the left foot during a struggle after investigating a suspicious van in a parking lot Monday night. Rookie Officer Madison Rolon was treated at an area hospital for what police describe as a minor graze.
Rolon and Field Training Officer Ben Williams responded to investigate the van and found three occupants inside. Officers found one to have an active warrant. The officers attempted to take Elverto Chavez, Jr., 36, into custody.
Chavez began running away from the van across the parking lot and reportedly tripped on the curb as Williams caught up, reports WTVF . After a struggle, Rolon joined in to try to assist Williams.

He was charged with a felony probation violation, evading arrest, resisting arrest and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
