The Southern Police Institute, located on the grounds of the University of Louisville, as a division of the Department of Justice Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, recently graduated 57 men and women from its 103rd Administrative Officers Course. Among those matriculating from the 12-week course was POLICE Advisory Board member Lt. Bill Harvey, of the Savannah (Ga.) Police Department.
Harvey told POLICE Magazine, "For me it was a challenging course. For those really wanting to challenge themselves and seeking the new management thinking of the future, this is the place."
According to the Institute, which was created in 1951, the course is required by many municipalities as a prerequisite to an appointment to the position of police chief. For more information, visit the SPI Website or call (502) 852-6561.
