Texas Officer Shot and Critically Wounded at Domestic

A Danbury, Texas, Police officer was shot and critically wounded Wednesday night while responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Chief Deputy Patin with Brazoria Co. Sheriff’s Office told Click2Houston that the shooting happened a little after 9:15 p.m. Investigators got a call about a domestic disturbance involving a 36-year-old man fighting with his mother and grandmother.

Dispatch sent an officer with the Danbury Police Department to respond, and shortly after he got there, Chief Deputy Patin said the officer called for backup saying he was shot.

The suspected shooter had taken off by the time backup arrived and the officer—35-year-old Brandon Turner—was taken to a nearby trauma center. He was later airlifted to another hospital in Houston.

It took an exhaustive search to find the suspect, which Chief Deputy Patin said involved two helicopters, a DPS plane, a SWAT team, and resources from numerous departments throughout the region. He described the collaboration and how many agencies jumped in on the call as “Quite impressive.”

The suspect is in custody.

Officer Turner is reportedly in critical but stable condition and will require further surgeries. Click2Houston reports he was shot in the ear.
