Texas Officer Shoots, Wounds Armed Man Near High School

An officer with the El Paso (TX) Police Department shot and wounded an armed man who was walking near the grounds of a local high school.

According to ABC-TV , police responded to a call of an armed man in the vicinity of the school on Wednesday morning.

There was an alleged confrontation, and an officer shot and wounded the 23-year-old subjec, whose identity has not been released. The subject was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer—a 22-year veteran of the department—has been placed on standard administrative leave while the incident is investigated by Texas Rangers.
