An officer with the North Richland Hills (TX) Police Department has been labeled a "snake charmer" by his agency in a social media post in which he is seen rescuing a four-foot-long water snake from the yard of a concerned resident who had called for assistance on Sunday afternoon.

"Sergeant Jackson just happened to have a snake catching glove in his truck (because, we all do, right?!) and went over to help," the post said. "With the help of Officer Peck, Jackson caught this 4-5 foot water snake (scientific name Nerodia Erythrogaster—thanks Ruby!) and posed for a pic."
The post concluded that Sergeant Jackson released the critter into a nearby creek area "where there was plenty of water and things for it to eat."

The agency said on Facebook that call-takers in the dispatch center received word from a concerned citizen about a snake in their yard.
