Texas Officer Burned by Firework Thrown into Patrol Vehicle

An officer with the Amarillo Police Department was burned by an exploding firework that was hurled into his patrol vehicle over the Independence Day weekend.

According to ABC News , police had responded to reports of a large group of people shooting off fireworks at a park.

Upon arrival at the scene, one of the subjects reportedly fired a "mortar shell" through the open driver side window of one of the officer's patrol vehicle.
