Suspect Shot After Opening Fire in Milwaukee Police Station
The chief said an officer fired back, and the suspect ran away. Officers caught up with the suspect two blocks away near 6th and Locust. Multiple officers fired shots, hitting the alleged shooter multiple times.
A suspect was shot by Milwaukee police after he allegedly opened fire inside the District 5 lobby on Friday, Feb. 25.
Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said the suspect, identified as a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, walked in around 3 p.m. and shot at staff while multiple community members were there, too, Fox6 reports.
The chief said an officer fired back, and the suspect ran away. Officers caught up with the suspect two blocks away near 6th and Locust. Multiple officers fired shots, hitting the alleged shooter multiple times.
The family of Milwaukee resident Darreon Parker-Bell has confirmed says he is the man who went into Milwaukee Police's District 5 building last Friday and opened fire.
Parker-Bell's mother, Lisa Bell, told TMJ4 News that her son was not in the right state of mind following the death of his close friend, Keishon Thomas, died in police custody, at District 5, last Wednesday. Waukesha Police are investigating his death.
Parker-Bell's uncle, Jr., said he's thankful that no officers were injured during the shooting and that his nephew's actions were wrong. Jr., like Ms. Bell, also believes that Parker-Bell did not expect to leave the police station alive.
According to Parker-Bell's family, he's in stable condition in the hospital, though they haven't been able to speak with him.
Police have not released any official information on the suspect's identity or his condition
