Study: St. Paul Police Department Should Hire 100 More Officers
A newly released study of the St. Paul (MN) Police Department contends that the agency should hire at least 100 more officers and support staff in order to keep up with increasing call loads, a growing population, and the ever-increasing complexity of conducting criminal investigations.
A newly released study of the St. Paul (MN) Police Department contends that the agency should hire at least 100 more officers and support staff in order to keep up with increasing call loads, a growing population, and the ever-increasing complexity of conducting criminal investigations.
According to WCCO-TV, the report suggests that 80% of those new hires should be sworn officers.
The report said that the new hires should be added largely to Homicide, Sex Crimes, and Family Violence units.
Chief Todd Axtell said in a statement, "I look forward to further analyzing the findings and working with Mayor Carter, the City Council and our community to make an already great police department even better, and this study is a great tool."
