An internal affairs investigation has cleared West Palm Beach, Fla., Police Chief Delsa Bush who had voided a jaywalking ticket one of her officers issued to a city employee.
Also, the officer who issued the ticket was cleared of the city employees' claim that he retaliated against her.
The city's risk analyst, Sharagay Esposito, had claimed Officer Gerald Chaparro wrote the June 17 ticket after she reported him for driving unsafely three days earlier. On Monday, Esposito paid the $64.50 fine.
The State Attorney Office closed its case in July, concluding that Chief Bush broke no laws, although she may have acted improperly. Chief Bush ordered the investigation following the State Attorney Office's probe into her handling of the ticket. In Florida, only the officer who writes a ticket can void it.
