South Carolina Police Warn of Slower Response Times in Hurricane Dorian

Officers with the Myrtle Beach (SC) Police Department may take longer to get to calls for service as Hurricane Dorian—which was downgraded to a Category 2 on Tuesday—passes the region, the agency warned.

According to ABC News , the department says that officers will remain on the roads as long as it is deemed safe to do so. The agency did not state specifically what conditions would lead officers to take shelter.

Slower response times to calls for service is one of the reasons the city is encouraging voluntary evacuations until the storm passes, which is projected to happen sometime late on Thursday or early Friday.
