The incident happened Saturday March 22, the Horry County PD reports on Facebook.
The owner posted on Facebook a video that talked about how the kangaroo got loose. It was a goat who unlatched the gate, allowing the kangaroo to hop away, the Myrtle Beach Sun News reports.
Local law reportedly permits the possession of such animals as pets.
