South Carolina Man Shot at Officers While Fleeing Robbery Scene on Lawnmower

According to the Charlotte Observer , a man opened fire on police officers as he fled the scene of an attempted break-in on Monday.

Two officers with the Cilo (SC) Police Department and a deputy with the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office were investigating the break in when they encountered a person riding a lawnmower who fired shots at the investigators. The two police officers then returned fire, hitting the person on the lawnmower, according to WBTW-TV .

The man—identified as 25-year-old Camelin Demetrius McRae—is reportedly charged with three counts of attempted murder, one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and one count of malicious injury to property.

No law enforcement officers were injured, but the deputy's car was struck by a bullet.
