Small Wisconsin Department Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary of Service

The Village of Kronenwetter, WI—which was incorporated in 2002—is now celebrating the 15-year anniversary of its police department, which was founded in 2004.

According to WSAW-TV , Kronenwetter—which is the largest village by land area in the state of Wisconsin—hired its then one-man police force in Chief Dan Joling, who admits now that when he was told of the job he "couldn't even spell" the name of the town.

Joling was tasked with building the agency from the ground up, and credits his three decades of service in the military for being able to draft and then execute a plan.

Over the years, Joling hired additional officers as well as support staff to serve the community of just over 7,000 citizens. The fourth officer he hired, in June 2006, has now become the department's second and current chief, Terry McHugh.
