The Philadelphia Police officer who was shot after pursuing a suspect into a corner store has undergone a second surgery and may lose his kidney as a result of the shooting, reports ABC News .
Officer Edward Davies , 41, remains in critical condition Wednesday after his confrontation with Eric Torres, 31, a day earlier. Davies attempted to pull over Torres' 1998 BMW for a broken taillight, but Torres sped off. Torres struck the wall of a recycling plant and then ran into a mini-mart in Feltonville. Armed with a stolen .45-caliber pistol, he shot Davies in the abdomen below his ballistic vest during a struggle, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer .
