Shooting Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder of OH Officer

Damion McRae is charged with attempted murder and gun charges.

Officer Kenneth Grubbs was discharged from University of Cincinnati Medical Center Tuesday, two days after he was shot in the line of duty. The suspect is charged with attempted murder, reports WCPO .

Police said Damion McRae, 37, shot Grubbs in the abdomen outside a Gilbert Avenue apartment complex in Walnut Hills. Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley called the shooting an attempted "assassination" and "ambush."

Emergency crews took Grubbs and McRae to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for surgery. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries. Still, Grubbs has a long recovery ahead of him, police union president Sgt. Dan Hils said.

McRae is charged with attempted murder and gun charges.
